I started drinking gin many years ago after being offered it by an older companion at a Christmas party. At the time I thought it was a more sophisticated drink to what I was used to. Over the years, my desire for gin has ebbed and flowed like an elicit lover affair, my true loves being vodka and wine!
My interest has recently been piqued by the myriad of small batch gin producers in Australia and a fabulous local gourmet wine and food store that imports exotic and different gins from around the world. I walk in to browse around and inevitably end up tasting something new and buying at least one or two different things to share with friends at the next dinner party! Through my posts I will share with you the different gins I have tasted – none of them are mainstream and yet all of them are so different. For those of you who thought your gin options were just Gordons, Bombay Saphire and Tanqueray, be prepared to be blown away, not just by the gins but the different tonic waters that can also have a huge impact on the final drink!
